Kevin & Philip Darley started producing haylage in 1992 after Philip had a

chance conversation with top show horse producer Peter Richmond. Philip

wondered why Peter did not use haylage to feed his horses instead of hay.

Peter's reply was if he could find a supplier who produced a consistent

quality product at the right price he would, but having lost a horse to

botulism a number of years previously after using 'haylage' supplied by a

local farmer he was very reluctant to try again.

At the time Kevin & Philip were looking to diversify from the traditional

crops grown on their family farm & this conversation got Philip thinking. From

a small beginning making 800 bales in the first year the business has now

expanded to making over 15,000 a year. Minute attention to detail throughout
